On February 12, 1908, six cars from four countries lined up in Times Square, New York, determined to circumnavigate the globe. With Paris, France, as the final destination, entrants in the race traversed more than 21,000 miles, crossed three continents, and drove through six countries. Only three cars passed the finish line, with the American Thomas Flyer being declared the winner on July 30, 1908.
