Treacherous roads that were unfit for automobile travel-inspired Jesse Nusbaum to improve the quality of tourists’ visits to Mesa Verde National Park. Soon after becoming superintendent in 1921, wagon trails within the park were transformed under his leadership. The Mesa Top Loop Road was created to furnish efficient access to Mesa Verde’s key archeological sites and to provide visitors with amazing canyon views.
