The Gifford House was originally built in 1908 by Calvin Pendelton. Jorgen Jorgensen and his family occupied the homestead from 1916 to 1928 when when it was purchased by his son-in-law, Dewey Gifford. For 41 years the Giffords raised a variety of animals, grew crops, and maintined orchards on their farm. Today their legacy is preserved within the structures, lands, and orchards of Capitol Reef National Park.
