Covering 1,700 square miles, Great Salt Lake is the largest natural lake west of the Mississippi River. With no outlet, water only leaves through evaporation. Because of this, the salt content is at least twice that of the ocean. The lake and shoreline offer a wide range of recreational activities including hiking, camping, boating, and viewing wildlife. Antelope Island and the state marina offer great views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
