When Frank and George Bond aquired grazing rights to the Baca Ranch in 1917, they built a cabin called the Big House that served as their summer home and headquarters. Over time, additional buildings were constructed to house ranch workers. The foreman’s cabin, also known as the Little House, served ranch operations into the early 2000s when Valles Caldera National Preserve was established.
