The bridge above Hoover Dam honors Mike O’Callaghan, who served Nevada as its governor from 1971 to 1979, and Pat Tillman, an American Pro Football player who left the Arizona Cardinals to enlist in the United States Army. He was killed in Afghanistan in 2004. The bridge is suspended by a 1,060 foot concrete arch, the largest of its kind in North America. Roughly 15,000 vehicles pass over it every day.
