Philanthropist and conservationist John D. Rockefeller Jr. generously donated to several national parks including Grand Teton, Great Smoky Mountains, Virgin Islands, and Acadia. In honor of his contribution, congress dedicated the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway in 1972. The highway that is named for it’s famous benefactor connects Grand Teton’s south boundary to Yellowstone National Park on the north.
