On June 11, 1921 a group ventured south from Denver, Colorado to the remote southwest corner of the state. They were headed to Chimney Rock in a borrowed two-ton truck they named Lizzie. This was the first official archeological expedition designed to uncover the ruins in “Piedra Parada,” a Spanish name for Chimney Rock meaning standing stone.
