When automobiles first motored down the dirt trails of Capitol Reef, the only road from Fruita to Caineville passed between the narrow walls of Capitol Gorge. The last car to negotiate the gorge passed though in 1962 when the paved highway along the Fremont River officially opened. The pioneer motor path through Capitol Gorge, now along Capitol Reef’s “Scenic Drive,” remains a favored foot path today. Image available as a three color silk-screened poster. Size is 14" x 22."
